Exchange Student Academics

Enter to Learn, Leave to Serve

At Saint Mary’s, Gaels gain the knowledge, skills, and confidence to ask big questions and take chances, tackle new challenges and become change-makers—and to lead with compassion and integrity.

Saint Mary's offers several types of credit-bearing courses ranging from 1 credit to 5 credits.  Exchange students must enroll in a minimum of twelve (12) credits, but may only take one (1) or two (2) 1 credit courses.  Exchange students can take up to 15 credits per semester under the tuition waiver program.  Courses are available to exchange students on a space-available basis.

Once accepted to Saint Mary's, exchange students will submit a list of 8 courses that they are interested in, and the Center for International Programs along with the Registrar's Office will create their course schedule.  The course schedule will be emailed to students before classes begin.  Exchange students can also access their course schedule online via their GaelXpress account.

Exchange students can add or drop courses during the first two weeks of each semester with the approval of both the professor and their academic advisor.  Students will meet their academic advisor upon arrival to campus.

Exchange students may study at Saint Mary's for a maximum of two semesters.
